Description
Description - Tree 6-20 m tall, the trunk to 30 cm diameter, the young branchlets minutely strigulose or glabrous; stipules caducous, less than 1 mm long and wide, triangular, glabrous; petioles and rachis terete, glabrous or minutely strigulose and glabrescent; leaflets (1-) 2-4-jugate, coriaceous, ovate to ovate-elliptic to elliptic to oblong-elliptic, the base rounded-obtuse or some of the upper leaflets acute, the apex acute to acuminate, glabrous on the upper surface, minutely strigulose and glaucous or infrequently glabrous beneath, the basal pair smaller; inflorescences racemose or panicled-racemose, axillary, the axis minutely strigulose, the bracts usually persistent, 0.5-1.5 mm long and wide, triangular, minutely strigulose externally, glabrous within, the bracteoles lacking; pedicels (5-)6-8(-9) mm long, minutely strigulose; buds globose to depressed globose, sometimes slightly umbonate, (5-)6-8 mm diameter, minutely strigulose and more or less verruculose; calyx segments 4 or 5, minutely strigulose and verruculose externally, glabrous within; petal white, glabrous on the inner surfaces but glabrous or sparingly strigulose externally, the claw (1 -)2.5-4.5 mm long, the blade 3.5-7.5 mm long, 6.5 mm wide, larger stamens 2-4, the filaments sparingly strigulose or pilosulose, 4.5-6.5(-8) mm long, the anthers oblong, 1.5-2.5 mm long, the smaller stamens glabrous, the filaments 3.5-7 mm long, the anthers oblate, the pollen of all the stamens globose, ca 28.5 n diameter; stigma punctiform; style 0.8-1.5 mm long, glabrous or sericeous in at least the basal half; ovary sericeous or albo-velutinous, oval or elliptic, 2.5-4.5 mm long, 1.5-2.5 mm wide; gynophore 3-5.5 mm long, sericeous or velutinous.

Distribution
(Fig. 25). Dense, riverine rain-forest, 100-400 m alt., Colombia, Venezuela, Guyana, Suriname, French Guiana, and northwestern Amazonian Brazil.
