  • Discussion

There is considerable superficial resemblance between this species and S. discocarpa, but the foliaceous stipules, bracts, and bracteoles of the present species link it more closely to S. recurva. Unlike the latter species, S. caudata does not have the calyx segments densely pubescent on the inner surfaces. From S. krukovii the new species differs in having the leaflets densely strigulose beneath, foliaceous stipules, bracts, and bracteoles, and relatively shorter gynophores.
