Type
Type collection. G. Tessmann 4597 (lectotype F-fragment), Río Marañón from Iquitos to the mouth of the Santiago at Pongo de Manseriche, Loreto, Peru, 1924. The holotype at Berlin was destroyed in the fire during World War II and the only material of the type collection which I have located is a fragment in the Field Museum of Natural History, Chicago. It consists of a single leaflet and several flowers, mounted on a sheet with Macbride's photograph of the holotype.

Description
Description - Branchlets puberulous; leaf rachis 21-34 cm long, puberulous minutely but glabrescent; leaflets 4-6-jugate, the blades of the lowermost pair smaller, 11.5-12.5 cm long, 5 cm wide, elliptic, those of the other pairs 21-40 cm long, 6-12.5 cm wide, oblong-elliptic, the base of all the leaflets obtuse or subobtuse, the apex bluntly acute to acuminate; inflorescence axis minutely puberulous, the bracts 1-1.5 mm long and wide; pedicels 9-12 mm long; buds 8-12 mm diameter; claw of the petal 2-2.5 mm long, the blade 15-20 mm long and wide; filaments of the larger stamens ca 22 mm long, the anthers ca 6 mm long and 2-3 mm wide; style ca 3 mm long; ovary 25-30 mm long, ca 3 mm wide, densely velutinous.
