Description
Species Description - Tufted on short rhizomes, 2–5 dm; panicle compact, 3–5 cm; glumes 6–8 mm; sterile lemmas awned below the tip, the awn of the lower lemma short and straight, that of the upper lemma 5–9 mm, geniculate; 2n=56–78. Often apomictic. Circumboreal in arctic and alpine meadows, s. to alpine summits of N. Engl. and N.Y. (Savastana a.)
