Discussion
Phoradendron strongyloclados Eichler, Mart. Fl. Bras. 5(2): 109. 1868. Phoradendron essequibense Trel., Monogr. Phoradendron 149. 1916. Phoradendron johnstoni Trel., Monogr. Phoradendron 149. 1916. According to Eichler, the leaves are veinless and reach up to 12 x 35 mm. In fact, examination of rather large collections from both Brazil and Venezuela have proved that the leaves maybe either larger, or provided with fine nerves, or both. The specimen under consideration bears leaves visibly veined, though more so at the upper surface, and measuring up to 15 x 55 mm .
