E. rhabdodonta Card., Rev. Bryol. 37: 12. 1910.
Stereophyllum rhabdodonta (Card.) Grout, Bryologist 48: 67. 1945.
The difference between this and E. contorte-operculata (C. Müll.) Broth, from Costa Rica is slight. The leaves are crowded and imbricate with sermlate to serrate margins, whereas those of E. contorte-operculata are distant and seldom overlapping with entire margins.
