    Species Description - Herbs, 0.3-1 m tall. Leaves 9-15 X 1.5-4 cm; sheath striate. Inflorescences 4-4.5 X 2—3 cm, erect, with 1—3-flowered cincinni, 4-11 cm tall. Flowers: calyx red, tubular, 4-6 mm long; corolla pinkish white, 10-12 mm long; labellum spreading, white, with yellow streak in center, 9-10 mm long and wide. Capsules glossy red, ellipsoid to globose, 7-8 X 6 mm diam., 1-6-seeded. Seeds with aril of unknown color.

    Distribution and Ecology - Fl (May, Aug), fr (Apr, May, Jun); found in nonflooded forest at 200 to 400 m. Gingembre sauvage, gingembre-grand-bois
