  Genus Description - Plants small, in flat, glossy, pale-green to yellowish mats, freely and irregularly branched. Leaves wide-spreading strongly complanate, smooth, ± asymmetric, rounded to elliptic, narrowed to the insertion and slightly decurrent on 1 side, broadly rounded at the apex (lateral leaves with a small, oblong basal lobe folded over and clasping the stem or branch); margins entire to faintly denticulate; costa none or very short and double; cells rounded-hexagonal to short-oblong, smooth, becoming shortly rhomboidal and ± porose toward the base. Dioicous. Perichaetia small. Setae rather short, smooth; capsules distinctly exserted, erect and symmetric, oblong-cylindric from a short, distinct neck; peristome teeth short, abruptly lanceolate from a broader base, pale-yellow, smooth; endostome segments fragile, often adherent to the exostome, linear, rising from a low basal membrane. Calyptrae cucullate, sparsely hairy.
