  • Description

    Description - Plant flowering to 45 cm high; stem subterranean (?), short. Leaves all alike, fasciculate, to 34 cm long, entire; sheaths ovate, small, glabrous; blades linear, involute-subulate, ca. 7 mm wide at base, subpungent, covered with appressed white scales above, very obscurely punctulate beneath. Scape erect, slender, glabrous; scape-bracts small, remote. Inflorescence simple, laxly few-flowered, glabrous. Floral bracts ovate, 4 mm long; flowers subspreading, red; pedicels slender, 8-20 mm long. Sepals elliptic-oblong, obtuse, 14 mm long, ecarinate, nerved; petals linear, obtuse, 32 mm long, naked; stamens included; ovary 3/5 superior; ovules alate.
