Description
Species Description - Plants to ca. 0.5 m tall; rhizome with thin, subterranean scale-covered runners; roots with subterminal, starch-storing tubers. Leaves basal and cauline. Inflorescences with several to numerous, membranous, purplish bracts, the flower pairs and flowers subsessile. Flowers diurnal, white or cream with apex of cucullate staminode bright yellow.
Distribution and Ecology - Fl (Jan, Feb, Mar, Apr, Nov in other parts of French Guiana); semi-open areas on ground with shallow soils.
