Description
Genus Description - Shrubby or scandent herbs. Leaves: blade often with apex strongly displaced to one side. Inflorescences with the flowerbearing part narrowly cylindrical, the tough-textured bracts tightly rolled around axes and partially enclosing inflorescence axes, the flower pairs subsessile. Flowers: corolla tube very long and narrow; outer staminodes solitary; ovary with 1 fertile locule. Fruit 1-seeded.
