    Genus Description - Perennial herbs, arising from bulb. Leaves with or without petiole. Inflorescences on scapes, the flowers subtended by hyaline bracts. Flowers with well-developed leaves present, flowers usually white, fragrant, with long perianth tube, the perianth lobes all similar, long, linear or lanceolate; corona present; stamens with long, slender filaments, arising from corona, the anthers versatile; ovary inferior; style long (ca. 25 cm), filiform. Fruits capsular. Seeds with spongy testa.
