Description
Species Description - Plants 60-140 cm tall. Leaves 60-140 cm long, dimorphic, some reduced to mostly entire sheaths; sheath ca. 14 cm long, entire, densely and cinereously lepidote abaxially, glabrescent adaxially, dark brown on lower half; petiole 20- 40 cm long; blade erect, rigid, chartaceous, flat, linear, 3.5- 5.5 cm wide, finely and sparsely serrate toward apex, attenuate, acute or cuspidate, densely lepidote. Inflorescences unbranched, 50-60 cm long, the peduncle erect, 25-30 cm long, the raceme laxly and polystichously 10-35-flowered, 15-30 cm long, the floral bracts ecarinate, ovate, the pedicel 13 mm long. Sepals symmetrical, linear-lanceolate, obtuse, ca. 2.4 cm long, distinctly carinate; petals red. Fruits decurved.
