  • Description

    Species Description - Submersed or floating plants, forming dense masses, the light green to whitish stems to 1 m long. Leaves linear to filiform, 3- 11 cm long, 0.3-0.9 mm wide, dark-green, narrowly acuminate to apex; sheaths 6-10(-14) mm long, membranous. Peduncle not elongating and spirally twisting after anthesis. Drupelet ovoid, 2-3 mm long, 1-1.5 mm wide with persistent style base, the stipe to 30 mm long.

    In shallow brackish to saline waters of lagoons, ponds, and pools. Coral Bay Quarter in intermittent brackish pool by entrance to Fortsberg (A2421). Also on St. Croix and St. Thomas; cosmopolitan.
