  • Description

    Genus Description - Prostrate, decumbent, or ascending annual herbs. Leaves opposite, evenly pinnate; leaflets oblique and opposite; stipules opposite, linear or subulate. Flowers 5-6-merous, bisexual, actinomorphic, long-peduncled, solitary, axillary; sepals distinct, greenish; petals yellow, obovate, deciduous; stamens twice as many as the petals, ascending, the ones alternating with the petals bearing a gland at base; ovary sessile, 8-12-locular, each locule with a single hanging ovule, the style short or long, stout. Fruit a schizocarp of 8-12 indehiscent, 1-seeded mericarps.
