Description
Genus Description - Annual herbs. Leaves basal and cauline; basal leaves forming a rosette; cauline leaves opposite or whorled- stipules deciduous Rowers minute, greenish or white, bisexual, pedicellate, in axillary cymes or solitary; calyx of 5 sepals; petals wanting- stamens 3- 10, the filaments connate at base; ovary of 3-5 locules, each locule with numerous ovules. Capsule thin, membranous, with numerous minute seeds.
Distribution and Ecology - A genus of 20 species, with tropical and subtropical distribution.
