Description
Genus Description - Prostrate or erect herbs or shrubs, not producing milky sap (at least in our species). Leaves small and entire. Flowers bisexual, regular, borne in axillary, dichasial cymes or solitary; calyx of 5 equal or subequal sepals; corolla rotate, shortly tubular at base or funnel-shaped; stamens 5, the anthers ovate or oblong; ovary with 2 distinct or basally united styles, each style divided into 2 filiform stigmas. Fruit a 4-seeded (or less), ovoid or globose, 4-valvate capsule; seeds usually smooth, 3-angled.
