Description
Genus Description - Trees or shrubs. Leaves alternate, entire, crowded at ends of short sympodial branches. Flowers bisexual, regular, with long hypanthium, borne in axillary capitate spikes; calyx early deciduous, cup-shaped, with 5 minute lobes on distal portion; corolla wanting; stamens 10, exserted, the anthers adnate to the filament; nectary disk annular, surrounding the style; ovary inferior, at the base of the hypanthium, the style long exserted. Fruit a 1-seeded, fleshy drupe.
