Description
Genus Description - Herbs or rarely subshrubs, more or less farinaceous or glabrous. Leaves alternate, entire to sinuate, petiolate to sessile. Flowers bisexual, in glomerules, either solitary or aggregated on spikes; bracteoles lacking; calyx of 5 sepals; stamens 5, with flattened membranous filaments; styles 2 or 3. Utricle indehiscent, membranous; seeds nearly lenticular.
