  Genus Description - Annual or perennial, fleshy herbs. Leaves alternate. Flowers in terminal racemes; sepals hyaline margined; petals obovate spatulate, white to purple; stamens 6; nectary glands present; ovary fusiform, the stigma capitate. Fruit fusiform, lomentum, transversely separating into 1 or 2 1-seeded segments.
