    Genus Description - Succulent prostrate herbs; branches appearing dichotomous. Leaves opposite (one of them smaller); stipules decurrent from petiole, forming a sheath around stem. Flowers solitary or in cymes; calyx funnel-shaped, sepals with a dorsal keel; stamens 5-10, usually of unequal length; ovary 1- or 2-celled. Fruit a membranous, circumscissile capsule; seeds lenticular-reniform and minute.
