Description
Genus Description - Acaulescent low herbs. Leaves congested in a rosettelike configuration; blades with minute cystoliths; petioles usually elongate. Flowers borne on scapose spikes with imbricate bracts; calyx of 5, subequal sepals; corolla funnel-shaped; stamens 4, didynamous, adnate to the throat, not projecting beyond the lobes; stigma club-shaped or slightly lobed. Capsule ellipsoid to nearly cylindrical; seeds 2 or 4 per capsule.
