Discussion
Type collection. A. Glaziou 22069, Goyaz, "Corrego do Brejo, dans les bourbiers. Arbrisseau (1-2 m .), fl. rousses. Mai-juin C." 1895 (holotype B, isotypes C, F, P).
The appearance of variety fusca is coarser than variety angustifolia and even the pubescence is longer. The flowers are ferrugineous in var. fusca and tawny in var. angustifolia. T h e leaf-blades of the latter are narrower and the petioles more slender. By the slightly crisped lanate pubescence P. fusca var. angustifolia can be easily distinguished from P. aurata, a closely related species.
Most of the data under the citation of the types was obtained from Glaziou's Liste des Plantes du Bresil Central, not from the Glaziou labels which give very little information.
