  • Discussion

Type. Mexico. Veracruz: Atoyac River, Ojo de Agua, Copeland 135 (MICH!; isotypes GH!, UC!, US!). The synonymy of this species with P. bradeorum Rosenstock by Evans and Mickel (Brittonia 21: 255-260. 1969) was in error. Polypodium colysoides is clearly related to the scaly-bladed Polypodiums, whereas P. bradeorum, distinct by its thinner texture, very irregular sori and epiphytic habit, represents an isolated element in the genus, and was given generic rank (Pseudocolysis) by Gómez (Brenesia 10/11: 116. 1977).
