Description
Species Description - Robust, woody, high-climbing, armed vines. Leaves palmately trifoliolate with stipels. Stipules spinose. Flowers large, in axillary racemes; bracts and bracteoles present, caducous. Calyx-hypanthium tubular-urceolate with conspicuous, imbricate lobes. Corolla subpapilionaceous with clawed petals; standard suborbicular and largest, other petals similar to one another and free. Stamens 10-11, monadelphous at base, subequal (?); anthers uniform, versatile. Pistil stipitate with numerous ovules; style filamentous; stigma small and capitate. Legume oblong, laterally compressed, dehiscent; valves woody. Seeds few-several, large, transversely positioned in legume.
