  • Description

    Description - Plant flowering to 1.5 m high. Leaves densely rosulate, to 75 cm long; sheaths broadly elliptic, dark brown; blades ligulate, acuminate, 20-25 mm wide, green, glabrous, subpapyraceous. Scape erect, to 1 m long, its bracts more or less foliaceous, imbricate. Inflorescence laxly bipinnate from 3-6 branches or rarely simple; primary bracts ovate, apiculate, much shorter than the branches but exceeding the short sterile base; branches spreading, sublaxly 20-40-flowered, to 25 cm long. Floral bracts ovate, acute, straight at apex, exceeded by the sepals, thin; flowers suberect to spreading, short-pedicellate. Sepals lanceolate, acute, mucronulate, 15-22 mm long, connate to 8 mm, coriaceous; petals acute, about 3 cm long, pale yellow. Capsules slenderly cylindric, to 35 mm long; coma of the seeds red-brown.
