Description
Variety Description - Stems, lf-stalks and all axes of inflorescence setulose and villosulous, the stems rarely in addition pilose; lvs as described in the varietal key, the lfts strongly bicolored, usually pilosulous on both faces with pale or lutescent hairs, rarely glabrous above, the tertiary venulation of upper face commonly immersed.— Collections: 20. [Key: "Lvs at once shortly petiolate and plurifoliolate, the petiole 9-16-(-19) mm, the lfts relatively many and small, in larger lvs 14-19(-20) pairs, the amplest of them 10-18 x 4-8 mm; upland centr. Bahia to centr. Pernambuco."]
Distribution and Ecology - Caatinga woodland, surviving after disturbance in hedges and thickets, mostly between 300 and 1000 m, locally plentiful in scattered stations on both slopes of Chapada Diamantina in centr. Bahia, lat. 10-14°S, extending rarely e. toward the coastal lowlands along Rio de Contas; apparently somewhat isolated in e. Pernambuco (Sa. do Genipapo) and centr. Alagoas.—Fl. IX-III.
