Description
Species Description - Shrub or small tree; young branches closely appressed ferruginous, becoming glabrous, rough, grey, grid-cracked, without lenticels. Unarmed. Leaves spirally arranged and spaced on young shoots, becoming clustered in fascicles of 4-5, 0.7-1.8 × 0.2-0.4 cm, narrowly spatulate to linear-oblong, apex rounded to truncate, base acute to narrowly cuneate, margin strongly revolute, strongly coriaceous, glabrous above, lower surface closely appressed ferruginous puberulous; venation obscure, midrib visible only on the lower surface. Petiole 1.5-2.5 mm long, not channelled, appressed ferruginous puberulous. Flowers bisexual, axillary, in 1-3 flowered fascicles. Pedicel 3-4 mm long, appressed puberulous. Sepals five, ca. 3 mm long, ovate or triangular, acute, outside appressed ferruginous puberulous, inside glabrous. Corolla glabrous, ca. 3.5 mm long, tube 1.75-2 mm long, lobes five, oblong-ovate, acute, entire or with only vestigial lateral segments. Stamens five, fixed at the top of the corolla tube, glabrous; filaments ca. 0.75 mm long, anthers ca. 0.5 mm long, lanceolate. Staminodes five, ca. 1.5 mm long, lanceolate, glabrous. Ovary ovoid, five-locular, appressed ferruginous puberulous, enlarging after anthesis, gradually tapering to the appressed puberulous exserted style; style-head simple. Fruit unknown. Field characters. A shrub or small tree to 4 m. Flowering is recorded in Sep and Dec.
