    Species Description - Small tree or shrub generally up to 6.0 m, rarely higher. Branchlets slender, elongate, young parts more or less densely short-hairy, older ones glabrescent. Leaves oblong-elliptic, apex narrowly acuminate, base cuneate, membranaceous to chartaceous, dull, glabrous above, set with appressed longer and shorter hairs on midrib and lateral nerves, less densely so on the intervenium beneath, entire, 8.0-14.0 cm long, 3.0-4.0 cm broad, lateral nerves 5 or 6 pairs, very slightly impressed above, raised beneath, reticulation of veins and veinlets rather obscure on both faces; petiole short-pubescent, 4.0-6.0 mm long; stipules subulate, silky, ca 9.0 mm long, caducous. Spikes slender, ca 10.0 mm long, 1.0 mm diam; flower-subtending bracts acutish, slightly shorter than the sepals, the latter 4, obovate, obscurely denticulate, ca 0.5 mm long. Disk fleshy, entire, low. Ovary patently pubescent at least in the upper part; styles 3, very short. Fruit subglobose, sessile, more or less densely covered with short hairs, 5.0-6.0 mm long.

    Distribution and Ecology - Amazonian Peru and Brazil; in lowland forest substage.
