Description
Description - Shrub or treelet. Branchlets slender, flexuous, glabrous. Leaves elliptic or oblong-elliptic, apex rather abruptly acuminate for 1.0-1.5 cm, base cuneate to the petiole, firmly membranaceous, laxly coarsely pellucid-punctate and -lineate, glabrous, slightly lustrous on both faces, shallowly subsinuate to entire, (8.0-)10.0-16.0 cm long, 4.0-6.0 cm broad, lateral nerves 4-5(-6) pairs moderately prominent beneath, veins laxly reticulate, veinlets rather obscure; petiole slender, glabrous, not thickened apically, 5.0-10.0 mm long. Flowers unknown. Fruit capsular, globose, 3.0-5.0 cm diam, densely covered with triangular-subulate puberulent soft aculeae 5.0-7.0 mm long; pericarp lignescent, 4.0-5.0 mm thick.

Discussion
Mayna parvifolia is anomalous in the genus as to the pellucid punctation of the leaves and the thickness of the pericarp.

Distribution
Brazil (Acre) and Peru (Loreto, Huánuco); in rather dry tropical forest, 300-400 m alt. Apparently rare; incompletely known.
