Description
Species Description - Stems 2–8 dm, glabrate to softly pilose, branched above but seldom with more than a dozen glomerules; lvs basal, prostrate in a rosette, oblanceolate or oblong-oblanceolate, 8–25 × 1.5–6 cm, acute or obtuse, crenate, long-tapering to the base, sparsely pilose on both sides, densely strigose along the midvein beneath; glomerules 6–12 mm, scarcely surpassed by the bracts; invol 6–8 mm, its bracts thinly strigose, densely resinous; pappus-bristles abruptly dilated into a broadly triangular base; 2n=22. Sandy soil on the coastal plain; Del. to Fla., La., Ark., and Tex. Aug., Sept.
