Description

Type: Holotype: Colombia, Triana 4025 (BM!).
Description: Juvenile cauline internodes and petioles sparsely to moderately beset with minute deciduous glandular hairs and/or a rusty brown furfuraceous indument but becoming glabrous with age. Leaf blades appearing glabrous and lacking a conspicuous cover of setose hairs but often sparsely beset with inconspicuous minute glandular hairs above and on the primary and higher order veins beneath; 2n=30.
Habitat and Distribution: Widespread but local, rain forest. 20-170 (-1300) m. Ranges south through Colombia to Bolivia. GUATEMALA (Wurdack 1980:311); HONDURAS (Liesner 26325, CAS); COSTA RICA (Zamora 1252, CAS); PANAMA (Hartman 12134, CAS).
