Description
Diagnosis: Pileus coarsely or sometimes finely squamose, red to light red to pink, soon fading to tan or pale buff. Flesh white to pale yellow, cyanescent. Tubes yellow to sordid yellow to greenish yellow, sometimes reddish brown with age. Stipe white to pale tan, sometimes with a red zone at apex, white at the bulbous base. Spores longtitudinally ribbed with cross striae.

Commentary: This is the type species of the genus Boletellus. The concept and application of the name of New World material is quite broad due to macro-morphological variations seen in pileus features and contexxt colors and oxidation reactions.
