Description: Shrubs or small trees, 2-5 m. Young stems terete, quadrangular to flattened, glabrous, internodes longitudinal ridges absent, nodal line absent. Leaves isophyllous; petiole 0.5-2.6 cm long, glabrous; the blade 12-23.3 cm x 2.4-7.5 cm, ovate-oblong, chartaceous, the apex gradually acuminate, the base narrowly obtuse, the margin entire to sparsely serrulate; secondary veins 2 pairs including the faint marginals (sometimes 3 pairs including the faint marginals), plinerved symmetrically, diverging 0.8-3.0 cm above the base; tertiary veins percurrent and quaternary veins branched, areoles 0.6-3.4 mm wide, adaxial surface smooth, slightly rugose, flat and glabrous on the primary and secondary veins; abaxial surface dull green, glabrous, raised and glabrous on the primary and secondary veins. Inflorescences a terminal panicle, 5.2-12.5 cm long; peduncles terete, pink, glabrous; bracts persistent, narrowly oblong, 1.6-2.4 x 0.4-0.5 mm; bracteoles persistent, lanceolate, 0.6-1.5 x 0.2 mm. Flowers 4-merous, diplostemonous, pedicel 0.6-4 mm long. Hypanthium 1.9-2.5 mm long, campanulate, 1.4 mm wide at the torus, external surface glabrous, internal surface glabrous, androecial fringe absent. Calyx open in bud, the tube 0.3-0.9 mm long at anthesis, the lobes 0.3-0.5 x 1-1.5 mm, broadly deltoid to rounded, glabrous, whitish pink; calyx teeth triangular, slightly protruding, 0.5-0.7 x 0 .7-1.1 mm, glabrous, white. Petals-4, 2.5-3.1 x 1.5-2 mm, obovate-oblong, glabrous, white at anthesis, the apex retuse, the base truncate, the margin entire. Stamens, isomorphic; filament 1.9-2 mm long, glabrous, anthers with 2 locules, thecae 1.7-2.1 x 0.4-0.5 mm, straight, opening by 1 upright minute pore 0.3 mm wide, connective not prolonged below the thecae, dark brown, glabrous, thecae 1-2.5 mm long. Ovary 4-locular, 2/3-3/4 inferior, the free portion projecting 1 mm, spherical, glabrous; style 4-6 mm long, glabrous; stigma punctiform, 0.3 mm wide, glandular at apex. Berries 3-4 x 2-4 mm, globose, glabrous when mature, calyx persistent.
