Description: Shrubs or small trees, 1.5-10 m tall. Young stems terete to quadrangular, furfuraceous, trichomes when present stipitate-stellate and roughened, internodes longitudinal ridges absent, nodal line absent. Leaves isophyllous; petiole 0.25-1.8 cm long, furfuraceous to glabrous; the blade 6.4-13.7 x 2.1-5 cm, lanceolate, chartaceous, the apex acuminate, the base acute, the margin entire and revolute to very obscurely serrulate; secondary veins 2 pairs including the faint marginals, plinerved, diverging symetrically 0.3-1.3 cm above the base; tertiary veins percurrent, quaternary veins branched, areoles 0.8-2 mm wide, veins flat on the adaxial surface and raised on the abaxial surface; adaxial surface smooth, slightly rugose, glabrous, midvein puberulent, trichomes densely roughened; abaxial surface glabrous, the primary and secondary veins puberulent, trichomes densely roughened to glabrous. Inflorescences a terminal panicle, 5.7-10 cm long; peduncles quadrangular, reddish pink, puberulent, trichomes densely roughened to glabrous; bracts caducous; bracteoles persistent, lanceolate, 0.5-2.9 x 0.6-1.5 mm. Flowers 4-merous, diplostemonous, sessile, occasionally up to 0.5 mm long. Hypanthium 2.4-4 mm long, campanulate, 2.8-4 mm wide at the torus, external surface glabrous to occasionally with sparse, short, roughened trichomes, internal surface glabrous, androecial fringe absent. Calyx open in bud, the tube 0.2-0.6 mm long at anthesis, the lobes 0.4-1.3 x 2-2.3 mm rounded, glabrous, pale pink; calyx teeth triangular, 0.3-0.9 x 0.3-1.3 mm, glabrous, pink. Petals-4, 2.4-3 x 1-2.3 mm, ovate-oblong, whitish-lilac at anthesis, the apex retuse, the base truncate, the margin entire. Stamens isomorphic, around the style at anthesis; filament 1.2-2.6 mm long, glabrous, lilac-pink, anthers with 2 locules, thecae 1.7-2.6 x 0.4-0.9 mm, straight, opening by 1 upright minute pore 0.3-0.5 mm wide, pink at anthesis, connective not prolonged beyond the thecae, glabrous. Ovary 4-locular, completely inferior, spherical, glabrous, ridged at apex, the apex absent a corona; style 6.1-7.8 mm long, bending away from the anthers, white at anthesis, glabrous; stigma punctiform to slightly capitate, 0.25-0.4 mm wide, glandular at the apex. Berries 2.8-3.4 x 3.1-3.7 mm, ovoid, glabrous when mature, calyx persistent.
