Description
Diagnosis: Gasterocarp 1.5-2.5 cm broad, globose to subglobose, occasionally slightly flattened, finely matted, golden yellow (5A-B8-7), dry, developing pale olive stains with age and handling. Peridium thin, golden yellow, not staining. Gleba pale cinnamon, tough-gelatinous, loculose and gel-filled ("hysterangium-like"), with sterile, translucent, cartilaginous tramal zones ramifying upward from base Arising from obvious distinct sterile attachment point that is easily separable from, and not continuous with, glebal portion above. Spores hyaline, with single guttule, obovoid to obpyriform (mango-shaped or like a foreshortened incandescent light bulb), with apparent internal ornamentation like Ganoderma.
Type species: Mycoamaranthus auriorbis, a later name for M. cambodgensis.
