  • Description

Taxonomic notes: Cronquist (1981) did not account for Ruptiliocarpon in his classification system; however, he placed the closely related Lepidobotrys in the Oxalidaceae and we are forced to follow that classification here because our database is based on the classfiication system of Cronquist. Today, modern authors (e.g., Hammel & Smith, 2004) consider these two genera as belonging to a separate family, the Lepidobotryaceae which is placed in the Celastrales by the Angiosperm Phylogeny Group (Stevens, 2001 onwards).
