Description: Epiphytic herbs, up to 10 cm. Pseudobulbs absent. Leaves with a fan-like arrangement, equitant; blades obliquely lanceolate to sub-falcate, 2.3-5 x 0.4-0.6 cm. Inflorescences 3-5 cm long, bearing several flowers but producing only one at a time. Flowers: yellow, petals and callus with reddish-brown spots. Dorsal sepal elliptic, 4-4.5 x ca. 1.5 mm; lateral sepals similar to dorsal sepal. Petals oblong, 5 x 3 mm. Lip trilobed, 13-17 x 13-23 mm; midlobe 4-lobed, 8-13 x 13-23 mm, the lobes subcircular; lateral lobes subcircular or unguiculate and transversely oblong, 2.5-6.5 x 2-7 mm; isthmus short; callus subcuadrate, 5-lobed, 4-5 x 2.5-3 mm. Column 2-3 mm long, with conspicuous lobes. Fruits 1.5-2.5 x 0.8-1.2 cm.

Distribution: Mexico to Brazil and the Antilles from sea level to 300(-750) m.
Ecology: In moist to wet forests.
Phenology: This species has been observed with flowers from Jan to Jul, and from Sep to Dec; and with mature fruits in Jan.
Pollination: Not recorded.
Dispersal: Wind dispersed.
Taxonomic notes: This species is similar to Psygmorchis pumilio, which is documented from the Golfo Dulce region, but the former are larger plants with distinctive spots on petals and callus.
