Description
Description: Epiphytic shrub; stems slender, subterete, glabrous, brownish when dry; bark striate, longitudinally cracking; twigs subterete. Leaves coriaceous, elliptic to ovate-oblong, 5-8 x 1.5-2.5 cm, basally cuneate, obtuse, apically long-acuminate, glabrous; 5-plinerved, the secondary nerves arising near the base, midrib and lateral nerves plane or slightly raised above, raised beneath, the reticulate veinlets sligthly raised on both surfaces; petiole rugose, glabrous, 2-3 mm long. Inflorescence axillary, laxly racemose, 6-12-flowered, essentially glabrous in all parts, deciduously bracteolate at the base with several submembranous, oblong bractlets up to 1 cm long; rachis rugose, 1.5-3 cm long; pedicels subrugose, slender 10-20 mm long; floral bracts deciduous, oblong, obtuse; bracteoles basal, linear, 2-4 mm long, glandular-fimbriate. Flowers with calyx ca. 5 mm long; hypanthium rugose, subcylindric, ca. 2 mm long and 3 mm in diam.; limb submembranous, ca. 2 mm long; lobes apiculate, ca. 1 mm long, sparsely glandular-fimbriate margined; sinuses rounded; corolla membranous, 15-33 mm long and 3-4 mm diam., the lobes triangular, less than 1 mm long; stamens alternately 4.5-6 mm and 6-7.5 mm long; filaments connate in the basal half, pilose distally, alternately 2-4 mm and 3.5-5.5 mm long; thecae slightly granular, ca. 1 mm long; tubules ca. 1.6 mm long, dehiscing by terminal or subterminal pores; stigma truncte.
Distribution: Endemic to Bolivia. Rare.
Type: Bolivia, lat. 15-18° S, Bridges 103 (holotype, L; isotype, fragment NY).
