Tall terra firme forest on undulating ground.

Description
Tree, 20 m x 40 cm. bark deeply furrowed but firm. Leaves shiny yellow green above, yellow-green and lustrous beneath. Buds pale green, petals white adaxially, creamy yellow abaxially; free portion of lip yellow, basal ring creamy white. Leaves and flowers turning black when bruised. Inner bark and outer wood pale yellow, heart wood reddish. (FAA). Phenology of specimen: Flower.
