Georeferencing Method
Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Version 2012. Georeferenced to the approximate geographic center of Paraná do Xiborena in Iranduba, Amazonas. Using Google Earth and Google Maps - Satellite View, located Paraná do Xiborena, situated south of the city of Manaus, nearby the confluence of Rio Negro and Rio Amazonas/Rio Solimões. Used the Distance Measurement Tool (Google Maps) to measure a straight line along the length of the stream from the confluence of Paraná do Xiborena and Rio Amazonas to the confluence of Paraná do Xiborena and Rio Solimões, then halved this distance to approximate the location of the midpoint of the stream. Measured to approximately this halved distance from one extreme of the segment of the stream toward the center; used Canadensys Lat/Long Crosshairs to find the coordinates of the midpoint, on the adjacent shore (collection assumed to be terrestrial). Input coordinates, linear extent (distance from the selected coordinates to the farthest extent of Paraná do Xiborena, 4242.83 m), and measurement error (.5 m) into the MaNIS Georeferencing Calculator to find the uncertainty radius.
