  • Georeferencing Method

Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Version 2012. Georeferenced to 1 km. south of the approximate geographic center of the Sete Varas airstrip in Sete Varas, Pará. Using Google Maps - Satellite View, located the Sete Varas airstrip, on the western shore of Rio Curuá. Used Canadensys Lat/Long Crosshairs to find the coordinates of the approximate geographic center of the airstrip. Used Distance Measurement Tool (Google Maps) to find the linear extent of the airstrip by measuring from the selected coordinates to the farthest extent of the airstrip. To find the 1 km. south offset: Input coordinates, linear extent (590.965 m.), measurement error (.001 m.), offset direction (S), offset distance (1000 m.), and distance precision (100 m.) into the MaNIS Georeferencing Calculator to find the offset coordinates and uncertainty radius (according to Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Offset: Offset at a heading).
