French Guiana. Nouragues Field Station. 100 km SSW of Cayenne and 40 km SW of Regina, ca. 7 km from Saut Pararé on the Arataï River. Camp Inselberg and vicinity.

Description
Small tree, 12 m x 8 cm. Fruits with persistent, green calyx-lobes, the operculum and slightly more than the supracalycine zone green, the area between the calyx and the green part and the infracalycine zone brown, lenticellate, the operculum green, the stigma expanded, persistent, oblique. Mature fruits broadly turbinate, 4-locular, 4 x 4.5 cm, the pericarp, soft, 5 mm thick. Seeds, 1.8-2.2 x 1-1.6 cm, with basal aril. Several fruits opened, probably by capuchin monkeys. We saw monkeys in the area yesterday and found fruits on ground today. Forest. At entrance to Chemin Est Trail.
