Panama. Kuna Yala. San Blás, Aila Tiwar (Rio Acla).

Habitat
Terrain mostly steep. Soil red clay, pH c. 7.0. Rainfall C. 4000 mm p.a.; dry season December to April. Forest canopy continuous at 25 m, with buttressed emergents to 45m, and c. 200 woody species per hectare. Understorey strikingly rich in palms.

Description
Buttressed tree, 40m high, diameter of bole above buttresses 50cm. Tree V. Crown sample in full sun, 40 m above ground. Bark dark red/brown, fairly smooth, tending to flake longitudinally. Branching orthotropic, forming domed crown 12m across, 10m deep. Lvs.: somewhat lustrous, with a red tinge when young. Fls.: dull brown to yellow, presented above crown. Fruits brown withouth, black within, containing quantities of pale brown seeds, abundant in this season. Phenology of specimen: Flower.
