Description
This is the yellow Tylopilus from Estrella; mature material. Pileus 8.5-10 cm broad, plano-convex, grayish yellow (4B6-5-4), with dark brown maculose spots, sticky when wet but not truly viscid. Flesh white, unchanging, with mild odor and taste. Tubes up to 2 cm long, greyish red (7B-C4), depressed around stipe; pores concolorous staining brown. Stipe 10-17 cm long, 1 cm broad at apex, elongate-subclavate, dry, glabrous to finely subpruinose to finely ridged, concolorous with cap, whitish at base, strict to curved; interior white to olive yellow (not changing when exposed).
