  • Description

    Pileus 3-5.5 cm broad, broadly conic when young, convex to plano-convex with age, dry, but with a subviscid subpellis layer, wooly tomentose, with sterile appendiculate margin, maize yellow (4A7, 6) and with a brownish orange to dull red zone near margin when young. Flesh white, unchanging, with a mild odor and taste. Tubes adnexed, white whne young, becoming grayish red (7B-C3) with maturity, not staining; pores concolorous, not staining. Stipe 4.5-8 cm long, 8-10(-22) mm broad, equal to subclavate or sometimes pinched at the base, dry, glabrous to matted, white when young, soon developing dull yellow or rarely a yellow with a subtle pale pink tint from the apex downward, remaining white at the base.
