    Quercus oleoides/peduncularis. Solitary. On sandy soil.

  • Description

    Pileus 3.5 cm broad, plane, dry, subtomentose, reddish brown to brownish red (7D-E7,6); flesh white, staining pale pinkish tan, with mild odor and taste. Tubes shallow (4mm long), adnate to adnexed, pale yellowish white (4A3,2), staining brown when injured; pores concolorous, staining likewise. Stipe 3.5 cm x 8 mm, equal, curved, dry, finely matted, brownish orange to carrot red (6B7-6C8), with white base; interior solid, white, basically unchanging or changing somewhat like the pileus.
