  • Georeferencing Method

Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Version 2012. Unable to find the precise location of "Monte Christo" or "Santa Victoria" along Rio Ipixuna; instead, georeferenced to the approximate geographic center of Rio Ipixuna in Mun. Humaitá, Amazonas. Using Google Maps - Satellite View, located Rio Ipixuna, a tributary of Lago Uruapiara (basin of Rio Madeira). Used the Distance Measurement Tool (Google Maps) to measure a straight line between the mouth of Rio Ipixuna (confluence of Rio Ipixuna and Lago Uruapiara) and the source of Rio Ipixuna (approximated through the dense forest cover), then halved this distance to approximate the location of the geographic midpoint of Rio Ipixuna. Measured to approximately this halved distance from the mouth of the river toward the center; used Canadensys Lat/Long Crosshairs to find the coordinates, on the adjacent shore (collection assumed to be terrestrial). Input coordinates, linear extent (69742.9 m), and measurement error (.5 m) into the MaNIS Georeferencing Calculator to find the uncertainty radius.
