Georeferencing Method
Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Version 2012. Georeferenced to the closest point along a stream to the approximate geographic center of the river system inferred to include the stream Joao Pedro within the boundaries of the Reserva da Vale do Rio Doce (alternative name: Reserva Florestal da CVRD, Espírito Santo. Using Google Maps - Satellite View, and referencing an image of the boundaries of the reserve found online (http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-2tuD76V4Vgg/UE8yk6xDTZI/AAAAAAAAIYo/dwwfszGJl5M/s1600/Map.jpg) located the Reserva da Vale do Rio Doce. Using similar site records (also stated to be on or near the "aceiro João Pedro", and within the Reserva da Vale do Rio Doce) in the Emu database which already have lat long coordinates (NY Site IRNs: 560429, 760895, 760903) identified a river system within the reserve which is presumed to contain the Aceiro João Pedro. Using Google Maps - What's Here tool, found coordinates (final) for the point along a stream bank closest to the approximate center of this river system within the boundaries of the Reserva da Vale do Rio Doce. Using Google Maps - Measure Distance tool, determined linear extent by measuring from the selected final coordinates to the farthest extent of this river system within the boundaries of the Reserve (-19.157419, -40.075759). Input linear extent (11827.5 m), coordinate precision (0.00001 degrees), datum (WGS84), and measurement error (0.5 m) into the MaNIS Georeferencing Calculator to find the uncertainty radius (according to Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Named Place: River, stream, road, path, and Defined area).
