  • Georeferencing Method

Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Version 2012. Georeferenced to a point along the Rio Acarai (inferred correct spelling) closest to the approximate geographic midpoint of the river, in Mun. Camamu, Bahia. Using Google Maps - Satellite View, located the mouth of Rio Acarai, a tributary of the Rio Orojo. Using Distance Measurement Tool (Google Maps) measured a straight line beginning at the mouth of the river (-13.9603068 -39.1169366), to the source of the river (-13.9071425 -39.2509425), then halved that distance to approximate the position of the geographic midpoint (-13.9336298 -39.1838738). Using Canadensys Lat/Long Crosshairs, found coordinates for the point along the Rio Acarai closest to this midpoint. Input coordinates, linear extent (distance from the selected coordinates to the farthest extent of the river, 7879.65 m), and measurement error, into the MaNIS Georeferencing Calculator to find the uncertainty radius (according to the Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Named place: River, stream, road, path).
